What we write about
We cover the practical side of a Togean trip: how to get there from Ampana or Gorontalo, where to stay, what the diving and snorkelling are like, and how to plan around boats that don't always run when you expect. Each post is one person's trip, written in the first person, with the month and year we went.
If you're starting from scratch, Ruben's post on getting from Ampana to Kadidiri covers the most common route in, and Wahyu's ten-day Togean itinerary puts the pieces together. Ruben's notes on cash and signal in the Togeans are the ones we'd read before anything else.
How we work
- We only write about places we've been. If we mention somewhere we haven't visited, we say so.
- We don't present boat schedules or prices as fact unless we've checked them recently. Boats in the Togeans change often, so we'd rather tell you what to ask than give you a time that may be wrong.
- We name places to stay only when we've stayed there and can confirm they're still running.
- We correct posts when things change. If you've been more recently and something here is out of date, please tell us through the contact page.
