Overview

Kayaking in the Togeans

The sheltered water between the Togean Islands is suitable for short kayak trips, especially in the early morning when the sea is usually calmer. Several accommodations have kayaks for guests.

No experience is needed for short trips in sheltered water. Crossings between islands are better made by boat.

Paddling safely

Wind and currents usually increase in the afternoon.

  • Ask about tides and currents before setting out.
  • Stay in sheltered water close to the shore.
  • Wear a life jacket and tell someone your route.
  • Avoid the midday sun and carry water.
  • Locations: Kadidiri, Malenge, Walea Kodi
