Activities for non-divers

Most reef life in the Togeans is found in shallow water. On Kadidiri and Walea Kodi, the reef can be reached by swimming from the beach.

  • Snorkelling: from the beach or on boat trips.
  • Jellyfish lake: swimming only; a life jacket is enough.
  • Kayaking: in sheltered bays, usually in the morning.
  • Walks: forest trails, village visits and night walks with a guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to dive?

No. Many reefs are shallow enough for snorkelling, and kayaking, walks, the jellyfish lake and village visits need no certification.

Is equipment available?

Snorkel sets and kayaks are usually available at accommodation. Dive equipment is available at dive centres. Bring your own mask if you prefer a good fit.

Are activities suitable for children?

Many are, including snorkelling in calm shallow water, short walks and boat trips. The Mount Colo trek and deeper dives are for older children and adults.
